2007 lunapark Coming to my senses/Riprendere conoscenza Rome

The YEAR of MIS-TAKES (2004) series is a grouping of photographs that I collected for years while working on other things. The pictures from film rolls that were “mistakes”, over exposed, out of focus, or pictures taken by mistake when I thought the camera was off. Only in 2004 at an important moment in my life, when I too was out of focus, confused and intent on concentrating on my own mistakes did I succeed in seeing them as a grouping of months. Therefore, they become wanted and intentional and they earned their hyphen, a punctuation mark, which succeeds in elevating them from mistakes to mis-takes. The impossibility to see anything clearly in each photograph was what intrigued me, their total abstraction.

La serie Un anno di scarti (2004) è costituita di fotografie che ho accumulato per anni, mentre lavoravo ad altro, da gli “scarti” dei rullini, immagini sovraesposte, sfocate, oppure scattate per sbaglio quando pensavo che la macchina fotografica fosse spenta. Solo nel 2004, in un momento decisivo della mia vita, quando anch'io ero sfocata, confusa e intenta a concentrarmi sui miei errori, sono riuscita a vederle come un insieme di mesi. Da allora, sono diventate “volute” e intenzionali e si sono guadagnate il trattino, la breve lineetta che riesce a trasformarle da mistakes in mis-takes. Ciò che mi ha affascinato è l'impossibilità di distinguere chiaramente qualsiasi particolare di ogni fotografia, il loro essere assolutamente astratte.
